Welcome back friends!
My name is Kristen McDaniel and I am an Administrative Assistant here at The Party Patch. I assist in the office by answering the phones, working with customers, processing paperwork, etc. I am quite new to the industry with about 10 months and counting of experience. I am 20 years old and I am hoping I can make a career in the Special Events industry.
Since I have been employed at The Party Patch, one of my favorite things to do is decorate/or change the showroom displays! However, before the fun of re-decorating, I have been learning a lot about our internal processes from working with customers in person, on the phone, etc. - to the order pulling process and final paperwork handling at the end of a customer’s contract. I would like to share with you a little about what I have been learning thus far.
I thought working for a rental company would be a “walk in the park”. That is definitely not the case. When one customer rental order is confirmed, there are other customer orders going out. Our warehouse staff has to keep up with the maintenance and up keep of equipment such as: china, glassware, flatware, tables, chairs, linens, etc. - to make sure each item is ‘rental ready’ and is pulled/prepared, marked for either customer pick-up and/or delivery. There are times where you might only have 2 days to get 500 dishes, flatware, and glasses clean and ready for (1) customer order…all the while keeping up with all other rental orders. Our quality control is not to just ‘wash and clean’ - we make sure each piece sparkles, check for cracks and chips, and to count each piece for accuracy. In addition, here at The Party Patch - we are fortunate to have a commercial size washer, dryer, and press machine- to maintain our large linen inventory. Having that said, during the summer months - the warehouse gets extremely hot; we like to call it a ‘free sauna’. So standing in front of a 270-degree linen press in an already hot warehouse is like frying an egg on the sidewalk (now that is hot). Fortunately, we have an ice-cold Sno-Kone machine for rental, and it is sure to cool you off. It would be wise to wear comfortable shoes – mainly for safety – but when 3:30pm rolls around you – and if you’ve been on your feet for 6 hours – you might need a really good foot massage. I have learned that you never realize how hard someone else’s job is until you do it…which has helped me to appreciate our warehouse staff even more.
We strive to provide quality rental equipment so that our customers’ events turn out perfect without issues. From polishing silver pieces to getting every last smudge off of glass pieces – is our promise to you. We hope you take pride in our rental equipment as much as we do.
Being fairly new to the Special Events industry, working in our warehouse has been quite helpful for me. I’ve learned all the different rental equipment we have in inventory, I learned how to operate/assemble various items like beverage fountains, and it has helped me to know where things are stored on the shelves. We offer many different items and it is easy to get confused…so knowing these things are key when working with customers.
Here at The Party Patch, we all have different jobs and we work as a team. It is important for us all to work together to make your visit with us the best. We give our 100% effort to make sure you have everything you need for your special event.
I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work here at The Party Patch, including in our warehouse. I have learned a lot and I know there is a ton more for me to experience & gain with time. I am ready for the challenge, check back again to see my progress - and I look forward to working with you!
